About Jill & Elvia

Jill Burnham is the creative force behind Trident General Store. A seasoned Hollywood fashion and celebrity expert, Jill has always had an eye for style, color and looks. She came to California as a graduate from Syracuse, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fine Art Photography, as well as a Concentration in Film History.

Jill began her Los Angeles career working for a celebrity fashion photographer. She moved on to work in the photo departments of several magazines and she eventually ended up in the style department at the Los Angeles Times Magazine. She kept her eye on the pulse of what was hip and smart, as she conducted trend forecasting and style scouting, while also producing celebrity fashion shoots. Most recently, Jill worked at E! Entertainment and The STYLE Network booking celebrity and fashion experts ensuring the right style experts were on hand to provide commentary for current programming as well as for the fabulous red carpet awards shows, including the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

Jill is originally from Fairfield, Connecticut and back East is where her professional endeavors began. She spent her college years summering in Nantucket, an island that some say is the best place to observe preppy creatures in their natural habitat. During her time there, Jill spent a season learning every inch of the island as a taxi driver for Tippy’s, and another season as the PR girl and band promoter at The Chicken Box. Jill has been a fan of Nantucket for many years and much of her inspiration stems from this place she loves.

Currently living in Palos Verdes Estates with her family and two dogs, Jill became familiar with the surf coves as she pushed her baby carriage along the bluff trails. She was drawn to the look of town’s Shoreline Preserve signs and found inspiration in the beaches and coves which they represent. Jill wanted classic t-shirts, hats and other items celebrating the laid back Palos Verdes and Southern California vibe that were reminiscent of the East Coast pieces that she has always loved. Soon thereafter, Trident General Store was formed.

Jill brings a keen sense of style and artistic insight to Trident General Store, as well as endless enthusiasm and energy. She also always has a great recommendation for where to eat, what to buy, where to shop and what back routes to take to avoid the LA traffic, and well really, Jill has a great idea for just about anything.

Elvia Henderson brings a broad perspective to TGS having lived on both the East Coast and the West Coast. Born and raised in Spring, Texas, she left town at 18 to attend Princeton University. Culture shock aside, she quickly became enamored with the University’s incredible history and charm. She joined the girl’s rugby team, and after a short stint she soon discovered that as much as she loved the preppy team jerseys, cheering from the sideline was a better fit for her.

After college, Elvia moved to New York City and worked in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s legal department for a few years. She discovered that there were many interesting and exciting opportunities just down the street, which led her to make a move to a job in public relations at the New York Stock Exchange. Elvia really enjoyed her time at the NYSE in various roles, including media relations associate, public affairs specialist and speech writer. She left the NYSE to become Communications Director for an Exchange member firm where she handled media relations and corporate communications.

After many years in NYC, Elvia moved to Los Angeles. She missed New York, but after settling in, and getting a California appropriate wardrobe, Elvia has grown to love LA.! Inspired by the almost constant sunshine and laid-back vibe, and while hanging out with Jill in Palos Verdes, Elvia helped formulate the idea for Trident General Store. Elvia enjoys being an active member of the Junior League of Los Angeles and a mentor with Minds Matter. As the business ‘mind’ behind Trident General Store where she handles the “boring stuff” (according to Jill), Elvia thoroughly enjoys every minute of helping to create simple classics in a southern California fashion.

Elvia lives in Los Angeles and likes wine, French fries and all things cashmere.
